From Soldier to Storyteller: My Unique Path

My journey began in the structured and disciplined environment of the military. After 22 years of service, including 13 years in Special Operations, I retired with a wealth of experiences and skills that would later prove invaluable in my civilian life. Transitioning from the military to civilian life was not without its challenges, but it also provided me with the opportunity to rediscover my passions and reinvent myself.

Finding My Passion in Gaming

One of the most significant turning points in my life was when I reconnected with my love for gaming. As a child, I was always drawn to the fantastical worlds of comic books, video games, and tabletop RPGs. These interests took a backseat during my military career, but they never truly left me. Upon retiring, I found solace and excitement in the immersive stories and collaborative nature of TTRPGs. This rekindled passion led me to create my own gaming label, Chaotic Chronicles, and eventually to become a content creator in the geek community.

The Birth of TaylorLyfe Digital Marketing

While exploring my passion for gaming, I also ventured into the world of entrepreneurship. Leveraging the skills I honed in the military—strategic planning, leadership, and problem-solving—I launched TaylorLyfe Digital Marketing. My agency specializes in helping businesses within the geek community, smaller businesses, larger corporations, music artists, authors, contractors, and beyond, providing tailored marketing strategies that drive growth and engagement.

Challenges and Triumphs

Starting a business from the ground up was no easy feat. There were days when the challenges seemed insurmountable, but my military background taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability. One particularly memorable experience was our first major campaign for a client in the TTRPG industry. We faced tight deadlines, budget constraints, and the pressure to deliver results. However, through strategic planning and a dedicated team effort, we exceeded our client's expectations, increasing their online presence and driving significant traffic to their site. This success not only boosted our client's business but also reinforced my belief in the power of tailored marketing strategies.

Balancing Family and Business

One of the most rewarding aspects of my life is being a work-from-home dad. My wife and four children (one boy and three girls) are my biggest supporters and my greatest motivation. Balancing family life with running a business and pursuing personal interests can be challenging, but it also brings immense joy and fulfillment.

A Day in My Life

A typical day for me starts early. After a morning workout, I dive into my work, managing client projects, developing marketing strategies, and coordinating with my team. By afternoon, it's time to shift gears and focus on family. Whether it's helping with homework, picking up or taking them to practice, or enjoying a family game night, these moments are invaluable. Evenings are often spent brainstorming new ideas for Chaotic Chronicles or preparing for the next episode of the SideQuest! podcast, which I co-host. It's a busy life, but one that I wouldn't trade for anything.

Building a Community: The Dungeon Scribe Society

Another significant milestone in my journey was the creation of the Dungeon Scribe Society, a community of over 100 content creators from the geek world. This community is a testament to the power of collaboration and mutual support. Together, we share ideas, provide feedback, and work on exciting projects, all while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. The Dungeon Scribe Society has been instrumental in helping me grow both personally and professionally, and I'm proud of the strong connections and friendships we've built.

Personal Growth and Community Impact

Through the Dungeon Scribe Society, I've had the privilege of mentoring aspiring creators and watching them flourish. One such story involves a young writer who joined our community with a dream of publishing his own adventure module. Through guidance, collaboration, and his sheer determination, he not only published his module but also received rave reviews from the community. Witnessing his growth and success was incredibly fulfilling and reinforced my commitment to supporting others on their creative journeys.
